two

how is that possible? my first (fur)-child is two today. it has been an eventful two years, filled with numerous carpet cleanings in the beginning, endless dog poop and the best cuddles. she has become such a good dog. she listens so well, and i love to watch her head tilt when you say the words "go" "are you hungry" "walk" "daycare".

she has been my protector for over a year already since the husband has been away. i feel so secure having her next to me at night, and laugh when i wake the next morning with her head on my husband's pillow. she has adjusted well since our little man has been born. granted she hasn't received enough attention and she lets me know, she's been fantastic. i can't wait to see him grow up with her. i know they will be best friends as he gets more mobile and can move around.

i'm so thankful to have this lady in our lives and can't picture life without her now. she has such the personality and she's definitely is a momma's-girl pup. tonight Harlee, we celebrate with a homemade dog cake, a new bone, a couple new toys she picked out at PetSmart, lots of couch cuddles and belly rubs. we love you so much goober!

Walks with Harlee | V.4

Momma says I don't listen very well when she points that machine in my face. Well of course there are more important things going on around me then to look at that silly thing. Today the sun was beautiful and I ventured underneath some bleachers to see if there were any goodies. Sad to say, none were to be found.
Maybe next time.

Walks with Harlee | V.3

Momma said one day if I get really good at "fetch" I could make the baseball team. I throughly enjoy our walks when we pass by a baseball field. Those humans always make weird noises and capture my full attention. I'd sit for hours and just watch them and that ball I so badly want to catch.

Walks with Harlee | V.2

Momma wouldn't let me eat the flying plastic shiny thing that was skidding across the sidewalk. Instead I put my interest in the little humans making loud screaming noises in the park across from us. They move so quick, it gets my full attention. Oh and momma loved these twisty things way to much, I was bored in point two seconds and wanted to continue. Screw the whole sitting thing. Overrated.

Walks with Harlee | V.1

I'm starting a new series taking snapshots on my weekly walks with Harlee, sometimes sharing her point of view.

Here's our first walk together:
Momma let me briefly try to chase a plastic tricycle with a little person in it. I attempted to eat a rock. Showed the neighbor's yappy dog who's boss with my wimpy growl and smelt so many new smells that my nose was constantly in the grass.

Our Walks

Harlee loves her walks, and frankly there isn't a moment where she doesn't want the leash in her mouth. It's hilarious and I'm so glad I captured it in a photo. :)

Harlee

We have become proud new parents to this little baby girl!

Friday night, I decided to drive down 2.5 hours south to pick her up. There was just something inside of me that knew she had to be in our family.  We got back around 11:00pm, just before the husband got home from work. SURPRISE! He had no idea.

Immediately the husband got down on the floor and started to play with her. I know he was more then thrilled because he has always wanted to get one since we started living on our own. So seeing that moment, made me really glad I got her for us.

She was the runt of the litter, and at 3 weeks her mom had neglected her and all the other puppies trampled over her. The owner wanted to put her down, but the owner's cousin wanted to try to save her. With a little "TLC" she said they were able to get her to where she is now. The vet thinks all of her muscles hadn't grown yet and now she is a perfectly healthy puppy!

It was rough first night, but since we got her kennel. She has slept through every night. No whining or anything. She loves her kennel. It has been a smooth transition and when I'm at work I can't wait to come home and play with her.

Of course I had to take a zillion pictures. The one above is my all-time favorite. They both are so adorable! She is mostly Mastiff, but is not a purebred..so we aren't sure what else she'd be.

and before we even got married I told the husband that if we were to ever get a dog (female) I wanted to name her Harlee. And thus the baby girl's name. I can't stop talking about her, all the time. SHE IS JUST SO FREAKEN CUTE! :)
