New Hobby? Event/Wedding Planner Interest

I recently attending a wedding, and was asked to be a personal attendant.

I had such a blast, and was busy non-stop from 9 am until 12:00pm.

Thanks to my Bridal Mini-Emergency Bag, most of the questions were resolved with whatever contents were in the tote. But all in all, honesty I loved being there to help coordinate and see the whole day through. From driving the bride to hair/makeup, setting up the rest of the ceremony and reception decorations, to the take down at the end of the night.

Love the girls shades!

The bride let me take one of the centerpieces home. Still going strong a couple days later. Beautiful isn't it? Her colors were Yellow, White and Gray. Perfect summer theme!

After being a personal attendant, it made me realize that I would love to take a couple classes, and maybe even get certified as a event/wedding planner. Doing it on the side as a hobby. Does anyone know where I could start?

  3. Sounds like you had a lot of fun! :) Event management is really exciting work. The best place to get started is at your local community college. Good luck!

  5. This is something that I am planning on getting into in the near future also! Once I actually come up with the money, I am hoping to become certified through The Wedding Planning Institute (http://www.theweddingplanninginstitute.com/?CWEPSelfStudy). Up until then, I'm just going to offer as many services as I can for free to build up my portfolio so I have something to show potential clients. :)

    Good luck!

  7. That sounds like so much fun! I'm utterly convinced that all of my little sister's weddings will be immensely more fun than my own was because I'll get to be in the position of helper and organizer and make sure everything goes right-er...

  8. You need to find someone that does it near your town that does it for a living, and ask if you can be her assitant, then eventually she will send you out under her name.
