week twenty four

for real. look who made it into our weekly photo?! i was so happy. on friday afternoon i was enjoying some cuddles on the couch with harlee and the baby, while all of a sudden i heard what seemed to be the garage door opening. i didn't think anything of it, but then Harlee got up and went straight to the door to the garage. she came running back to me with a look on her face almost like she's saying "mom! mom! someone is here!" as leery as i was, i went to the door. the garage door was in fact open and i saw his truck. "no way" "there's no way" then he hops out with the biggest smile on his face. i couldn't believe it, i started to tear up. (dang hormones) he literally drove 17 hours straight with little to no stops for just gas and some snacks and made it home early to be with me.

it was so good to have him home for a couple days. my gosh did i miss his cooking. he made bacon wrapped bourbon steaks, homemade mashed potatoes, his famous cinnamon brown sugar french toast, breakfast tacos, and more. i ate so much i was starting to get heartburn, but it was oh so worth it.

unfortunately i had already made plans for the weekend, because i didn't think he'd actually be home yet. so i spent some time with some great friends, and was in on a surprise pregnancy announcement. it was fun, but all the while i wished i was with my husband. i only have so many days with him, i want to spend each waking moment together. i also began to see the loads of army equipment sprawled out all over our living room floor as he prepared to pack his things for this upcoming deployment. a sight i wasn't sure if i was ready to see, but none-the-less i helped him check things off the list.

early monday morning around 5:00am, i hear Harlee in the other room throwing up. i immediately jump out of bed to see. apparently she decided to eat a number of the rubber bands my husband was using to keep some of his army stuff together. so we both were wide awake deep cleaning the carpet. fun fun. but as we got back into bed, i started to feel soft rhythmic movements. immediately i grab my husband's hand and tell him look they are having hiccups. it was the first time we both felt them. so i guess that 5:00am wake up call was worth it.
