routine
last night, as i sat on the couch cuddling with the dog, i watched my husband. he started our son's bottle, put his pj's on for the night, turned on the nightlight, picked up the dog toys, and brought the cute bedtime jammies kid and bottle to me on the couch. how quickly he transitioned into our nighttime routine. he jumped right in and hasn't looked back. it amazes me how just a couple months before i was doing this routine solo with a tiny 5lb baby in my arms (granted the whole bedtime only lasted for three hours max) but still the same. having him around makes life so much easier, where i can sit and relax for the night instead. this was what i was waiting for. waiting for him to finally come home and become part of this routine. where he'd get just as excited for bath time as our son would. where feeding him a bottle with one hand while mastering something else became second nature. where he would have the biggest smile on his face when he picks up our son every morning out of his crib. this is the life i pictured and i'm so glad it's reality. so bring on this routine, i'm sure we will find ways to make it just our own when the little one goes down for the night. getting used to each other's company and never wanting to leave his warm embrace.
