The Wedding [Rings]

I knew the ring I was getting before I even got engaged. We hadn’t been dating that long (about 4 months and we both knew we both were at the point of wanting to marry, have kids, the whole nine yards). One afternoon we were walking through the mall, he joked about picking out rings. I didn’t take him seriously until he actually dragged me into one of the jewelry store places there. I was so shocked, I couldn’t put two words together to have the employee know which ring I preferred over an other. Just the experience of trying on a ring, just puts everything into perspective. All I kept thinking over and over in my head is, “he actually wants to do this, he wants me to be the one for the rest of his life”. It was a bit overwhelming.

Well that first experience ring shopping didn’t go as smoothly has he planned, so he surprised me again (a month or so after) one random night. Stopped his truck in the parking lot of an actual jewelry store. I didn’t know what to think, he asked me “well do you want to go in?”. I just looked at him in amazement and nodded. If I didn’t get the hint now that he was really serious about this, I would be dumb. :)

We walked in, having more knowledge this time. We talked with the employee told her want I would like in a ring. My response: “simple, princess cut, only one stone”. I’m not a very dramatic/flashy girl, and my personality had to fit the ring. We picked one out and she made me walk around the store with it in. “Let it sink in” she said. That was the Husband's way to get me away so that they could discuss more details of the ring that I wasn’t/shouldn’t know.

I picked out a wrap that was simple as well. A little different in the fact that it doesn’t fill the middle of the actual engagement ring, but it wanted something that didn’t necessary “go” together. But when it was put together, it looked like it was. The husband put a down payment on the ring and the wrap right then an there that same night. So we left the store, knowing that I was “engaged” but just not “asked” yet.

What about engagement story? I’ll share that in another post at a different time. Let me tell you, it’s a doosey, one that would not be defined as “romantic” to other brides in some cases, but perfect in my book! Stick around for it!

But it’s the rings, itself that are most important symbol to me of our marriage. Seeing that on his left hand everyday, or every day that I can (since he’d been away for Army training), means the world to me. I have someone there who will stick by my side, forever. I don’t think that feeling will ever go away, and I didn’t think it’d all happen ever so quickly. <3
